Income Report July 2015

Income Report July 2015

Wow. Sorry I’m cutting this report so late. August has been a rough month. Numbers are down and I’ve been really driven to stay focused and make the business grow. We’ll talk more about that next month, but having a “bad” month is key for keeping one focused. Ok, so about July… The Goal is to have a $20k October from my affiliate sites. It’s going to be an impossible goal to hit. I like impossible goals. A Facebook Distraction I ran across a gentleman who offered to teach me Facebook ads for $1,000. And, I honestly believe that ad-buying is one of the “waves of the future”. His training has been awesome. Mostly because I don’t know the first thing about paid advertising. He started me at the very bottom: Market research. Lead magnets. Tripwires. A/B testing… And just went through every single step. I have yet to make a profit, but that isn’t my main focus right now. Right now I’m running a couple of facebook ad campaigns every week. This is where I learn. We all need a learning phase. Everyone wants to “make money”. But first we must LEARN how to make money. It’s cheaper than college, after all. So I hope that in the next 60-90 days I will have mastered his method and we will have a nice stream of income that is not dependent on Google. That’s the plan, anyhow. But that training ate up a couple of weeks, and many, many late nights as he stayed up with me until 1 am teaching me everything he knew. I’m really grateful, dude....
Income Report June 2015

Income Report June 2015

These income reports are to inspire you on what is possible through an online business. In April, 2013 I left my job at a call center and launched on this incredible journey.  June was a real “nose-to-the-grindstone” month. Content Creation Systems Following the trip to Orlando last month, I dug in and worked on our content creation systems. Me and the virtual assistants managed to add 50 articles to one website, and 240 products (with descriptions!) to another new e-commerce style website. This is pretty remarkable when you consider that most of my income has only ever come from about 60 articles. If we can get these sites ranking, we have very likely just doubled that income. And what is even better  is the fact that we have some great systems in place. I hope to keep them running along at a lower level. Ideally, with these systems running on a part-time basis, we should be able to launch a new site about every 6 weeks.  That doesn’t sound like much, but when you calculate that each site should make about $5k per month, we’re literally looking at a million dollars in profit before I turn 34. I’ll take that. A Featured Blogger EmpireFlippers.com — a couple of guys who I greatly admire for their business-savvy and resilience — decided to do an “expert roundup”. I guess I’ve made it to “expert” now. It was an honor to be featured on the same page with the likes of Neil Patel and Nick Loper. You can read my write-up, here: http://empireflippers.com/buy-a-web-site-expert-tips/   A Change In Link Building In Orlando a lot of folks...

Income Report May 2015

These income reports are to inspire you on what is possible through an online business. In April, 2013 I left my job at a call center and launched on this incredible journey.  May started off with a roar. Some friends from Missouri (And Cubicle Houdini students) dropped by during their vacation. They were staying about 40 minutes away on another island, but drove into our neck of the woods for an afternoon. We checked out the Pensacola Lighthouse and the Blue Angels together, had some really crappy local barbecue and chatted business ideas. Since we had been here for 2 weeks, it was really nice to see a familiar face. Life Finally Normalizes. I think for the first time in 2015, our life feels “normal”. We finally got our SUV back on the 25th and is about as good as new following the accident last month((except for the new “clunk” when it goes over bumps, and the fact that is seems a lot harder to stop.). We’re now working on the “diminished value” request. This is a critical step that most people don’t do. You see, when a car has been in an accident, it is now worth less money then it would have been before the accident. People pull up the CarFax, see that it has had structural damage, was towed from the scene and had airbag deployment… and then they run screaming from your car like it was Bigfoot or something. Besides hurting your car’s feelings, this lowered valuation hurts your pocketbook. Every state (except Michicagan)  has laws to help the not-at-fault party reclaim this value. But most people...

Income Report April 2015

Wow! It’s is hard to believe that we are nearly at the half-way point for 2015! This year must be running on rocket fuel. It is absolutely flying by. The Move As I mentioned last month, we moved down to Florida. I’m sitting right on the intercoastal waterway watching sailboats go by as I type. I’m convinced it doesn’t get better than this. The move ate up a good portion of April. We sold our house on the 13th, and then ran up to Illinois to see Grandma. It was a great trip and I used it as an opportunity to catch up with Gene Milman and his business partner, Michal, of Fast Lane Web Services We’ve done some skype calls over the past year, but it was incredible to meet these guys in person. They are working their butts off (Gene had been up for 24 hours when we met) to grow their local SEO business. In addition to the web services company, Gene has always had a special interest in physical products and is working to launch a couple of side-startups that focus more on “real” products. I found their ability to partner with others and outsource everything to be really inspiring.  My major take-away was that I need to outsource more. It’s something I keep saying, but I struggle with spending the money on labor when I can do the task myself. (I know, I know, it’s the opposite mindset from what I should have). Arriving in Florida on the 20th, we fought through an extremely frustrating week of mishaps. For starters, the condo wasn’t ready...
Income Report March 2015

Income Report March 2015

This month was all about MAXIMIZING profits. It felt good. We had one site that we boosted the profit by over $50 PER DAY. I’ll get to that in a moment. March Recap: Building A Team Our Upcoming Move Optimizing For Sales Income Report Building A Team I’ve been hesitant to actually “build a team”. You see, when you bring on “team members”, suddenly you become responsible for providing them with a consistent amount of work (And corresponding pay). And I’ve never wanted that stress. Conversely, by only using random Odesk contractors, I was able to avoid that ongoing commitment to paying someone. The downside to Odesk is that the quality was all over the place. I finally decided to bite the bullet and start bringing on good members that we can build a business around.  Currently there are two of them. Content Creator:  Writing content is probably the most boring job. (I’ve done it, I should know).  I’m paying more for content by having dedicated writers, but the quality is so much better than it was when I was hiring foreigners to do the work. Plus, we’ve tweaked our method a few times and now we use a template that is getting really good conversions and is fairly easy for any college educated writer to follow. Site Admin: This member works about 10-20 hours per week and makes changes to the sites: adding content, adding affiliate link and restructuring the layout. Right now we are in a steady groove so that I can spend 20 hours outlining a site and my little team will take it from there. I’m hoping...
Income Report February 2015

Income Report February 2015

Wow! This year is just running away from me! Licking The Plate Clean I don’t know about you guys, but I love taking on new projects. It’s like a disorder. They call it “shiny object syndrome”. (Or ADD, maybe) The challenge that I talked about last month is that there just isn’t enough time to get it all done. So I’m really pleased to have gone an entire month without bringing on new work. My list of work to be done is shorter than it was at the start of the month. That’s a first! This is not only is a huge stress relief, it actually is inspiring me to work harder and faster because I can see “the light at the end of the tunnel.” The biggest accomplishment is in getting our house on the market.  I spent at least a full week doing handy-man work and getting this place ready to sell. (We have even had our first offer on it! ) Hopefully, it will sell in short order. After it sells, we are thinking of finding a beach to live on for 6  months. Sort’ve an extended vacation, if you will. The Houdini Act One course is also nearing completion. I may shoot the last videos today or tomorrow. What is really exciting is all of the little successes the students are having. Some of the folks have finished building their first websites. There are even a few who are already ranking in the top 4 pages of Google for their search terms! It’s refreshing to see that the system is not a fluke. Finally, I’m really blessed...
